Breast Surgery

Breast surgery includes procedures that change the size, shape or position of the breast

The right procedure, if any, depends on your individual anatomy, health and goals, and is decided together after a comprehensive consultation. Every option carries risks and a recovery period, and outcomes differ from person to person. It is essential that you understand what is possible and have realistic expectations.

Procedures are provided to adults (18+) following individual consultation and assessment. This page is general information only and is not a substitute for medical advice. Results vary between individuals and no specific outcome is promised.

Breast Procedures

The procedures below are described in general terms. The right decision for you can only be made after consultation with a qualified specialist surgeon.

01
Breast Augmentation

Increases or restores breast volume, generally using implants and in some cases a fat transfer.  Implant choices and the associated risks are assessed and discussed individually.

02
Breast Lift and Reduction

A Breast Lift shapes the breast and repositions the nipple areolar complex: this is achieved by removing excess skin and redistributing existing volume.

A Breast Reduction is very similar in that it reshaped the breast and repositions the nipple areolar complex, the major difference is that excess volume and skin are removed.

Both involve scarring and a recovery period. Suitability is assessed individually after consultation.

03
Implant Revision, Removal and Fat Grafting

Procedures to exchange or remove existing implants, or to adjust volume and contour using a fat transfer. The reasons for these vary between individuals and are assessed case by case.

Important to understand

Risks, Recovery and Expectations

01
All surgery carries risk

General risks of surgery and anaesthesia, and risks specific to the procedure, are explained in detail and in writing before any decision. Where implants are used, this includes implant-specific risks and the possibility of further surgery in the future.

02
Recovery takes time

Breast surgery involves a recovery period that differs between individuals. You receive guidance on what to expect, activity restrictions and aftercare, with follow-up appointments to support healing.

03
Scarring is part of surgery

Breast procedures involve incisions and resulting scars. These settle over time but remain permanent, and their likely position is discussed beforehand.

04
Results vary

Outcomes depend on individual factors and no specific result can be promised. In some cases, further or revision procedures may be needed. These possibilities are discussed openly.
